The roof camera of the public broadcaster NHK’s broadcast station in Osaka captured the meteorite as it fell to the ground, radiating strong light within seconds.
NHK also released images of the fireball reflected on security cameras in the states of the country’s Kanto, Tokai, Kinki region.
Speaking to NHK, Daiçi Fujii, Director of the Hiratsuka City Museum in Tokyo, said that the piece of the fireball created after an asteroid burned in the atmosphere was the light it scattered as it fell to the earth.
The images recorded by Fujii, who noted that the fireball traveled at a lower speed compared to an ordinary meteor and glowed like a moon, showed that the fireball scattered its light more powerfully as it approached the earth and disappeared in an instant.
Images of the fireball were also reflected on a camera in Fuji, Shizuoka state, southwest of the capital city of Tokyo.
The powerful light-emitting fireball caused many people to post on social media.
